With that, he hung up the phone. I stood there for a while. And even though I tried to fight it, tears rolled down my cheeks. I sat on a log that had been next to me, I wrapped my arms around my knees and I just let it out. Every thought that I had denied in the past reared its ugly head and taunted me, taunted me with the fact that Bellamy had lied to me this whole time. Half of me just wanted to confront him, to scream at him and punch his stupid face. But this was so heartbreaking that another half just wanted to crawl up and disappear, wanted to turn to stone on the log I sat on so that I never had to face Bellamy again.

I spent longer than I wanted to out there away from the house, at first letting out as much of my emotion as I could and then to prepare myself for the house. It would take all my self-control not to scream at him, to be honest it would take everything not to go straight for his throat. I reached down and hovered my hand over the gun that Bellamy had given me. But I couldn’t even think of doing that. Even after his betrayal I still cared about him, and that’s what made this so hard. I shook my head and did my best to silence my instincts. I couldn’t shout and scream and I couldn’t just run away, I had to be smart and get his car keys. That was my best bet.

As calmly as I could I walked back over to the house. As soon as I approached, I could hear barking and yapping, so they were definitely back. I turned the corner to see Bellamy on the phone with his back to me. I hide back around the wall as quickly as I could and waited and listened out. He thought he was alone, so if there was ever a time he’d be honest it was now.

“Yeah.” He responded to whoever he was talking to. “Okay, I can keep her here another week or two. Uh-huh, right. I’ll be extra vigilant. No, don’t worry she’s not going anywhere. Don’t worry, she doesn’t know anything, it’s all going to plan.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It was like the final set of nails being drilled into the coffin. He was about to say something else when Hector shot passed him and ran straight up to me, he must have heard or smelled me. As soon as Bellamy saw me he hung up on his call without saying goodbye to whoever it was. I narrowed my eyes as I walked up towards him, an uncomfortable expression itching to break onto his face.

That bastard. I bet he was calling over the Russians right now! He probably went on his walks and called them every day just to laugh at me, the silly Irish girl who fell for him.
